Greiner provided pre-construction and construction services for the transformation of a vacant warehouse to a temporary shelter in the North Loop Neighborhood.
Avivo’s goal of the project was to “provide a dignified, safe, and COVID-aware alternative to outdoor encampments.” Due to lengthy approval processes and fundraising stages, construction was significantly expedited to meet the goal of moving in residents by the end of 2020.
The scope of work included:
- 100 secure and private “tiny houses”
- Security/Reception Desk
- Community Room
- “Town Square”
- Outdoor Patio
- Shower and Restroom Facilities
- Laundry Rooms
- Staff Offices
Our team’s nimbleness came in handy when working through the expedited pre-construction process along with the ever-evolving scope of work. The team had a solution-driven approach and doubled the carpentry and Sheetrock teams to hit deadlines.
The first 16 residents moved in on December 30, 2020, and thanks to Avivo, a few residents found a permanent home just weeks later!
